Vaginal health is an important part of health of a woman. Vaginal problems affects fertility, sexual relationships and also your confidence.
What is vagina?
Vagina is a cushiony/muscular canal which is directly connected to uterus. And allows the passage to blood during menstruation and or discharges.
How vaginal health is affected?
There are many reasons which affects vaginal health such as sexually transmitted disease/infections, forceful sex, use of chemical products, unhygienic habits etc.
1. Sexually Transmitted Disease/Infections (STDs/STIs)
Main reason of STDs is unsafe sex. This causes infections like genital herpes, gonorrhea, HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)/AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). Some of the sexually transmitted diseases are curable but some are not and may cause threat to life.
2. Forceful Sex
Forceful sex indicate rapes. It injures vagina very badly because while having willful sex our vagina releases some lubricants which reduces friction during intercourse.
3. Use of Chemical Products
Girls use chemical products such as vaginal tightening creams, creams for avoiding itching and even perfumes to avoid vaginal odour. Which affects the sensitive skin of vagina and cause irritation, itching and even rashes. Therefore, avoid using such or any chemical product on your vagina.
4. Unhygienic Habits
Some girls use to wear a single underwear for two or more days which is very unhygienic. Sometimes using fancy underwear made up of nylon, satin clothes also causes irritation, not washing vagina regularly also not wearing vagina results in vaginal infections.
- Mainly there are three types of vaginal infections:
- STIs about which have talked.
- Bacterial Vaginosis: our vagina naturally grows some bacteria. Excess growth of these bacteria causes Bacterial Vaginosis. This is avoided simply by maintaing proper regular hygiene and hygiene during menstruation.
- Yeast Infection : this is developed due to excess growth of fungus in vagina.
Vaginal discharge tells very much about vaginal health. Even color of the discharge says a lot.
- Red: bleeding during mensuration
- White: healthy lubrication
- Yellowish - greenish: Bacterial Vaginosis
- Pink: spotting before or after periods.
