Puberty and Personal Hygiene

  Everyone has to face three phases during his/her whole life. First, is juvenile phase which covers the age group from an infant to till puberty. Second, is reproductive phase during which the person is able to reproduce. Third, is deterioration phase, during which the health of a person start deteriorating.


Puberty

A phase of development that occurs when a child's body changes into an adult body and is ready for the possibility of reproduction. A child can attain puberty at the age from 10 to 14 years and become an adult till the age of 18 to 20 years. If a child either a girl or a boy not attained puberty till the age of 15 to 17 years, then it is a matter of concern, and should met with the doctor. When a child attain puberty he/she has to phase different types of changes both physically and emotionally.

Changes during puberty

Physical changes

  • Boys
  1. Broader shoulders
  2. Growth of facial and pubic hair
  3. Enlargement of penis and testis
  4. Heavy voice
  • Girls
  1. Shriller voice
  2. Growth of pubic
  3. Enlargement of breast
  4. Beginning of menstrual cycle
Hormonal changes

  1. Secretion of testosterone in boys
  2. Secretion of estrogen, progesterone and other female hormones in girls
Emotional changes

During puberty both girls and boys face the same emotional changes. Such as

  • Loneliness
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Mood swings
  • Grumpiness
  • Attraction towards opposite sex

During puberty children don't know what actually is happening with them. They learn things from their friend circle, Internet etc. And become excited to try all such things. One of such things is masturbation. In our society, especially in the middle class society masturbation is a taboo and children are not allowed to talk about it with their parents. As a result of which, they get insufficient knowledge and harm themselves by their own due to lack of knowledge. But either during masturbation or daily routine hygiene is must, especially of private parts to keep yourself safe from infections.

Hygiene to follow

We all know the basic hygiene tips such as take bath, brush teeth etc. But what hygiene should be followed during puberty especially for private parts.

  • Boys
  1. Change your inner wear daily
  2. Keep your genitals clean and dry
  3. Wash your hands before and after touching genitals
  4. Don't use soaps and other chemicals products on genitals
  • Girls
  1. Don't use soaps and other chemicals products on genitals
  2. Wash your vagina in front to back manner
  3. Change your sanitation at regular interval
  4. Wash your hands before and after changing
How to deal the changes during puberty?

Changes occurred in children during puberty can't be stopped or suppress the symptoms. Though such changes are healthy and symbolize healthy growth of the children. These changes are normal and will remain as such, then you should know how to deal with such changes:

  • Be in the company of good people
  • Abusive nature in any form should be avoided
  • Sex education should be provided
  • Avoid children from stressful conditions
  • Provide happy and friendly atmosphere
  • Try to understand the mental and the emotional needs.
