SUGAR

  Almost every person in this world like cold drinks, tea, coffee and other sugary drinks. We use sugar as a sweetner to make our drinks, food sweet in taste. But seriously, does sugar actually mix sweetness in our lives? 

What is Sugar?

Sugar is a simple, edible, crystalline form of carbohydrates that comes in different forms. Such as lactose, fructose and common table sugar, Sucrose (most used form of sugar).


Excess of everything is always harmful. Excess intake of sugar causes acne, weight gain, inflammation and fatty liver. All these conditions increases risk of heart attack.

How much sugar is too much?

  For daily intake a person needs 2000 calories out of which only 10% means 200 calories should be added sugar which is almost 10-12 tablespoons. Intake of sugar more than this quantity is considered as excess intake of sugar. 

Too much of sugar causes some health problems such as tooth decay, acne, weight gain or obesity, cardiovascular diseases, skin aging, cancer etc. According to a study, sugar promotes the formation of cancer forming cells and 59% of increased risk of cancer in people is due to the consumption of sugary drinks.

Symptoms that you are taking too much sugar:

  • Low energy level
  • Low mood
  • Increased thirst
  • Increased urination
  • Increased hunger
  • Fatigue
  • Wounds do not heals easily and quickly
How to minimise intake of sugar?

  • Checking the quantity of sugar from labels on packed food
  • Avoid added or artificial sugar
  • Avoid processed food and drinks

  • All Sugar is Bad Sugar
Natural sugar such as sugar present in fruits, milk and honey naturally is not as bad for health as artificial sugar.

  • Avoiding Sugar Completely
Completely avoiding sugar may affect the level of insulin and blood sugar which is not healthy.

  • Using Sugar Free Replacements
No.... If you are using sugar free replacements then stop it. They are made up of artificial sugar and are processed which are not bad but worst for the health. It causes weight gain more faster than normal.
