The digestive system is also known as gastrointestinal (GI) system.

The digestion process starts from the first part of the digestive system that is mouth. When a person eats something the food particle is mixed with the saliva then enters to esophagus through mouth. And then to stomach through esophagus. The function of liver and gallbladder is to secrete digestive juices thus they then release digestive juices which helps in the breakdown of food particle. Then the digested food enter to small intestine where nutrients, minerals, vitamins present in the food are absorbed and the remaining waste enters the colon through large intestine and removed from the body through rectum. This is the whole process of the human digestion.
